Expansion of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure supports the UK Government’s vision for an AI-driven future and will help meet global demand for its cloud computing, sovereign AI, multicloud, and generative AI innovations.
Oracle announced plans to invest U.S. $5 billion over the next five years to expand Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) footprint in the UK. This investment aims to meet the rapidly growing demand for Oracle’s cloud services in the UK and to support the UK Government’s vision for AI innovation and adoption.
This expansion will enable more organizations in the UK, including those in healthcare, financial services, defense, retail, and manufacturing, to leverage Oracle’s comprehensive AI and cloud computing services. These services include sovereign AI, industry-leading multicloud capabilities, and state-of-the-art generative AI innovations. The investment will facilitate the migration of various workloads to the cloud and the modernization of applications.
The investment will further enable organizations to access Oracle’s multicloud capabilities and UK public and sovereign cloud regions. Oracle recently introduced 50+ AI agents within the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, designed to automate frequent, repetitive tasks across finance, supply chain, HR, sales, marketing, and service, allowing employees and managers to focus on strategic initiatives. The U.S. $5 billion investment will allow more UK organizations to utilize these AI agents and other AI innovations.
Oracle’s distributed cloud offers cloud benefits with enhanced control and flexibility, including:
Hyperscale public cloud regions, including those with strict EU sovereignty controls, cater to organizations of all sizes. A full list of regions is available here.
Customers can run all OCI cloud services in their own data centers using OCI Dedicated Region, while partners can resell and customize OCI cloud services via Oracle Alloy. Oracle also operates separate U.S., UK, and Australian Government Clouds, and Isolated Cloud Regions for national security, each providing a full cloud and AI stack deployable as a Sovereign Cloud.
OCI delivers key cloud services on-premises through Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer and Compute Cloud@Customer, with deployments in over 60 countries. OCI Roving Edge Infrastructure, featuring ruggedized and portable high-performance devices, enables remote AI inferencing at the edge.
OCI is physically deployed within all hyperscale cloud providers, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, offering low latency, natively integrated Oracle database services like Oracle Database@AWS, Oracle Database@Azure, Oracle Database@Google Cloud, and Oracle HeatWave on AWS. Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure and Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud allow cross-cloud capability integration.
